You will take the perspective of a teacher on a teacher action team charged with finding strategies to eliminate discipline disparities.
Racial discipline disparities refer to instances when students of color are disciplined (i.e. suspension, detention, etc.) at a higher rate than their white peers. The data you will engage with reflects a current reality in many of our communities, deeply rooted in historical marginalization and oppression, and inherently inequitable. We believe that engaging in conversations about scenarios like these are vital to advancing our mission to provide equitable opportunities for all students.
